Should I use MFP exercise calories or my own?

The treadmill and elliptical I use displays the estimated calories burned after I exercise based on my weight and intensity. These numbers are significantly higher than the calories MFP credits me when I report the activity (by about 300 calories). I haven't been changing the MFP amounts. Should I be using the amounts from the actual workout machines instead?

I prefer using the TDEE method to calculate calories. Just eat your TDEE minus XX%, or XXX total calories and you'll be set. No need to stress over wondering fi you have enough calories for your evening workout, or if you'll be way under. You'll also be able to plan ahead more easily.

One thing that made me leave MFP the first time I tried it was how unpredictable my calories intake had to be. That, and weekly averages can be all over the place. Using TDEE and updating your required intake once a month, or every week, made things so much easier.
