New to MFP, Advise for working with a personal trainer

I'm Keith and I'm trying to hit my 225 pound goal from my current 275 pounds by year's end. I've enlisted a personal trainer after considering the overwhelming costs. I feel that the benefits with a personal trainer will outweigh the financial cost in the long run, and I figured that if I kept doing what I was doing, I would just keep getting the same results. So a personal trainer is a new strategy. I just want to make sure I'm getting my money's worth. Has anyone succeeded in weight loss and muscle increase with a personal trainer? What made it work? Has anyone not met their goals or found personal trainers a waste, if so what went wrong? I just want to make the most of the opportunities I'm given, and this personal trainer seems like a huge opportunity.
