So I have this new heart rate monitor and I have a question regarding it. When I am wearing it for exercise it counts the calories that I burn. How do I figure out what I am burning from the exercise and with is metabolic carolires? I want to be putting in the right numbers for MFP.
Thanks for your help!!!
Good luck everyone!

I'm not sure if I'm doing it the best way, but here's how I do it (if anyone has any suggestions on how to do it better, please, let me know!):
Figure out your TDEE (total daily energy expended). This is the calories you burn in an average day through lifestyle (not counting workouts). I work a desk job so I'm pretty sedentary. Therefore, my TDEE is about 2140. I estimate I burn about 55 calories per hour sleeping (I'm actually going to try to calculate this soon to get a more accurate number, but this is average for a woman my age/size.) If I sleep 9 hours in a night, that's 495 calories. 2140-495= 1645 is the number of calories I burn in a day, while awake. 24-9= 15 is the number of hours I'm awake a day, divide that into 1645 and I get 109.66 So I figure I burn about 109.66 calories per hour just living. Probably less than that, but whatever. So for every hour I work out, I subtract 109.66 calories from my calories burned.
Again, not even sure I'm doing that right. In my mind the math makes sense but since I'm new to the health and fitness game, I could be way off-base.0 -
That makes sense...I will try that!
Thanks,
