A Small NSV

I have a lot of time to kill before I can deliver my next stop in New Orleans tomorrow so after lunch I decided to get in some walking.

There is a large shopping center on the other side of the interstate from the truck stop and I decided that would be a good place to do some walking. I set up my Nike + GPS watch and the Nike + shoe pod and headed over there.

I walked all around the shopping center and visited a couple of stores. A total of 2.64 miles from my truck and back again.

While there I visited a couple of stores. I picked up a new, on sale, bright orange Nike running shirt and a new pair of jeans (that gives me two pairs of jeans that fit my new, smaller waistline).

While trying on the jeans I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were a little loose around my waist. Not quite enough to go down to the next smaller size, but maybe halfway to there. This is already a smaller size than I wore six months ago and now it looks like it may not be long before I can wear the next size down.

That is very motivational. Far more even than the numbers on the scale :D

Excellent! Clothes can often show the positive changes even if the scale isn't budging! Recently, I've found more motivation trying on my old 'skinny' clothes from my closet than from the number on the scale.

Also, good job taking the time to fit some extra walking into your schedule!

I know what you mean. I am loving fitting in L over XL more and more these days. Although I'm still stuck with a size up in blazers so they can hang properly over my butt.

Excellent!!! You are an inspiration. Truckers don't usually have the best reputations when it comes to fitness and you are cooking it! Great job!

Thanks. There is a recent health and fitness trend in the trucking industry. Many of the drivers I know, including several with whom I work, are losing weight, getting more exercise, and getting healthier.

Many truck stops now have marked walking trails and fitness rooms for the drivers, and they are actually being used. They are also adding a lot more healthy menu choices in their restaurants.

I'm hoping that "unfit" and "unhealthy" reputation we have disappears along with our "trucker belly".
