I am not sure where to put this topic so mods feel free to move
i lost 4 stone doing cambridge diet over a few months and stopped when my hair started to fall out quite badly which I since learnt was due to sudden weight loss, I had thick hair to start with so not been to bad but its been nearly six weeks since I stopped the diet i am eating healthily and taking multi vitimans and it is still falling out a lot! anyone know how long it will take to return to normal as I am not sure I can take much more there is not many things I would rather not be than fat but bald for a single female in my 30s is defo one of them!
any advice to help it return? my nails/skin seem to have returned to normal so why hasn't my hair?

I would definitely see your GP just in case you have been depleted of essential vitamins and minerals (even though you are taking them now), but also to rule out other conditions such as an under-active thyroid. Good luck0

Yeah, go to the doctor! Get this taken care of!!0

Thanks think a GP visit is defo on the cards, she didnt exactly approve of the diet though so have been hesitant.0

I'm not too familiar with the Cambridge diet, but track your nutrients and make sure you're getting sufficient protein. Hair loss can also be a sign of thyroid problems.
Nonetheless, see your doctor.0 -

cambridge is basically zero carbs and VLC at 500 per day. They claim the sachets give you all the nutrients you need but obviously now i think that is untrue.
Although this site suggests that it could be just a shock to the system, says its only temporary but how long is temporary?

Are you eating enough meat and/or foods that contain iron?
I ask because this was the only time I had chunks of hair coming out during a diet last year (I learned my lesson since then!). Iron deficiencies in the body lead to quite a bit of hair loss. My doctor told me to take iron supplements, I did for a while.. but now I just work on fitting meat into my diet and doing it the healthy way.0 -
You know i was convinced I was eating everything normally but now you posted that and that I think about it, I really only eat fish and sometimes turkey, so perhaps it is red meat that is missing?0
