I have one. You can sort of see it here. I got it (and the obligatory tribal) years before I got the back piece.

I don't have one and wouldn't get a "tramp stamp" not cos I think they look bad but just because if I were to get a tattoo I'd want one that goes down my side (like down my ribcage/to my hip IDK what I'd want it to be I just think those kind of tats are really sexy! Plus I want one I can keep concealed.

    How painful were getting yours?

My 16 year old boy and I were having a conversation about tats this afternoon... I personally don't like them, yet I've seen some that were simply amazing works of art. I told my son that (aside from the same "old skin with tats" argument) what you feel like "engraving" your body with now may be totally off from your personality in even just a few years. Just food for thought, ya know?

I had the same conversation with my daughter (now 20 years old). She got one that is hidden by everything except a bikini, thank goodness. (I wasn't so lucky with the piercings conversation.)

Your tat draws attention to your butt which (as another poster mentioned) is very nice!

Nice! One thing I plan to reward myself with when I reach my weight goal is a kitty tattoo on my arm, since my arm will be toned enough to really show it off.

I have a lower back tattoo as well which is rather large and I HATE when my boyfriend refers to it as a tramp stamp. Stamps are small mine is huge LOL

oh way thanks! I had not even heard the term "tramp stamp" when I got it. i had wanted one there for ever! since Iwas like 13 and It took me that long to decide what to get and of course I had to wait till I was 18. but it was not a light decision or a spontaneous one. I loved it then and still do....I forget about it most the time cause it never shows and i never see it.

Tramps stamps were very popular in the early through late 90's right (maybe earlier)? What were they called before being derided as "tramp stamps"? And what do serious "inkers" think about them?

I can't post pics from my iPad but I do have a "tramp stamp" of a butterfly, tribal and hearts that i got when I was 19. It was pretty spontaneous and just reallllllyyyyyyyyyy wanted a tattoo. But here I am 10 years later with 19 MORE tattoos which took much more thought and planning to decide on. I don't regret anything, as it reminds me of that time of my life, as do all of my tattoos :)

I don't know anyone under the age of 29 who has a tramp stamp... I think these are definitely a generation-specific tattoo.
  • i just turned 20 and i have a tramp stamp. Everyone my age is getting side tattoos and while they are cute i prefer my lower back one.

Yes, this is my lower back piece. The initials are of my brother who was killed at work in 2003. They sit about 2 inches above the waist of my jeans.

And for the more astute - yes, that is a triryche, the symbol for the progressive rock band Queensryche. Their music had a profound effect on me during my darkest days.
