Is eating 5 - 6 small meals really better for you and your weight loss. Isn't it simply a matter of calories in calories out?

Eat as many or as few meals as you like. The thermic effect of feeding (a slight increase in metabolism as you digest food) is proportional to the amount of calories/macros. So if you eat more frequently, it will occur more often, but at a smaller magnitude. If you eat less frequently, the same amount of calories will be burned, but in more of a spike.
I do intermittent fasting (I eat all my calories between noon and 10PM. Usually in two meals and a snack or two) and I lose weight just fine0 -
People will argue both ways but I think whatever works for you, as long as you stick to your calories and your macros. I don't so much eat 5-6 meals but have the usual 3 with snacks inbetween and sometimes at night. It has to fit your lifestyle or you won't stick to it0

I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner (all 300-400 calories) plus a morning snack, afternoon snack and evening snack (unless I had a late dinner) which are usually 100-200 calories. I don't like being over, so as long as my net is under my goal then I'm happy. Which fuels me to exercise even more! Some people just can't eat that many times a day, which I think is crazy... I starve if I don't eat every 3 hours or so! To each their own, hope you can find your happy medium!0
