Losing lean body mass...necessarily bad?

I've lost over 55 lbs to date and still have a ways to go. I've been using the tools on the Fat 2 Fit Radio web site to calculate body fat %, BMR, etc. Using these tools, I calculate my lean body mass to be 172 lbs and a goal body weight of 195 lbs for my body type. In my younger days (in my 30's) I weighed between 172 and 185 lbs. Not that I would necessarily have to return to that point but it would be nice to have that option available. To do so would mean losing some of that lean body mass, that is muscle mass. I think that might not be too bad because I theorize that, in order to support my previous high weight mass (including fat) I must have extra muscle mass, particularly in the legs. Losing some of that should not be too bad. Is my line of thought correct? Opine, please and thanks!

If you keep your muscle you can eat more at your goal weight.
