Absolutely! I make a mean Nalysnyky, Borscht, and nachynka to name a few.

  • I do enjoy making Toad-In-The-Hole, though.

HOW CAN YOU POST THIS AND NOT ELABORATE? toad in the hole? I always thought british equals meat pie...

My parents made us what they called Toad-In-The-Hole for breakfast, which was a piece of bread with the center circle cut out and replaced with an egg, then cooked as one in a frying pan, we toasted the circle of bread that had been cut out and put butter and jam on it for dessert....yummy but I don't know if that really is the Toad in the Hole traditionally or just something they made up. lol

We (at least my family) call that toad-in-the-hole to in Australia... YUMM! Traditionally it was fried in lard or bacon fat, but we usually used butter and fried the extra cut out circle too.

In England, Toad -in-the-hole is sausages in yorkshire batter mix then cooked in the oven. You can either cook the sausages first or let them roast in the oven with the batter mix. Then smothered in gravy! YUM

We sometimes use hot and spicy sausages for something different.

I do love my lamb, it's supposed to be a significant Aussie dish. And I make a great Pavlova, but I understand the rivalry between Australia and New Zealand over it!

Not sure what the national dish is.....but I doubt it would be anything relatively healthy being America....So probably not.

I buy fish and chips, but I suspect it has never been traditional to home cook it, and obviously we haven't had potatoes for all that long, so it's rather a strange thing to be our national dish. I cooked roast dinner once, having not had meat since I was 11.

What I do make is scones, especially cheese scones. Are they really Scottish though, rather than English?

What is mine? A shrimp on the barbie? I hate seafood! Unfortunately us Australians don't have a long culture to draw on.

If in doubt cook something on the flag ... I don't mind Kangaroo steak occasionally, it's very good for you too.

Not a seafood fan either, I thought I was the only one in Oz ...

I'm English by birth and can rustle up a decent curry, fish and chips are so old school ;)

It's a lovely dessert. I used to hate it but if you have a good one that's homemade, it's amazing. A store bought ready made one doesn't do it justice.

Edit: sorry, I haven't a clue how to stick an image in the post.

It was her favorite from what I understood. They are VERY good! I've done one with a handful of chocolate chips and crushed graham crackers that is the grown up version of s'mores!
