Hey there,
Finally decided to log on here and check it out, didn't realise it was a big community as I've just been using the app. Firstly I'd like to say how inspiring you guys are, read quite a few posts already and it's great to see.
A little about myself, I'm a 26 year old guy, I was always slim, played a lot of sports, mainly football (soccer, big Leeds United fan) and I'd go running on the nights I wasn't playing, about 5km usually. Unfortunately depression hit along with hip pains and I had to tone down the running. Shortly after I became a full time carer for my father, spent less and less time outdoors and in february of this year I managed to pick up some nerve damage in my spine whilst playing football which caused me to be unable to walk other than a 5-10 minute pained limp to the local shop, this lasted 7 months. Combined over the past two years with several MRI's on my hips which turned out to have no blood flow and some arthritis going on in there, I have struggled to have the mobility I always had.
Thankfully in late August my limp was gone overnight, I have no idea why but of course I was delighted. Less than a week later I joined a gym (I am not a patient man) and got to it. At the time I weighed myself and at my heaviest was 235lbs, due to anti-depressants and going for the easy option of takeout most nights. Since I have started to walk properly I am down to around 215lbs, which is current. I usually try and get to the gym for low impact things such as cycling and rowing, 2-3 times a week, depending on how much grief my hips give me, and of course, eating a healthier.
Sorry for the essay, just felt compelled to say hi, and stay active! Never realised how much I loved walking until it was taken from me.
Keep up the good work,
Mike
