Extreme weakness due to years of neglect

A good rule is if you are really sore for more than 48 hours, you probably overdid it and should back off a little the next time. And since you've been sedentary for so long, start with low weight and focus on good form. Don't expect to be lifting crazy amounts of weight anytime soon. Lifting too much too soon is a recipe for an injury. But soreness in general just means you are using the muscles, so keep it up! It will get easier, though that just means you need to make it harder.0

Regarding the soreness.. try increasing your water intake when you do something extreme like that .. you need to flush your muscles as they will retain water to repair the damage (not really damage.. just the effort, work and exertion you put into them)
The idea of fasting and then doing that kind of workout is forcing your muscles to find the energy and resources available .. which is naturally stored in your body as fat. So by not eating .. it's not extrapolating energy/calories from your bloodstream (food you've eaten) .. it will burn it directly from your fat cells.
You still need to drink a LOT more water when doing that sort of program.
Soreness can last up to 5 days .. you just need to get back on track with your food intake, plenty of water .. and rest is very important as well. Take a day off .. then go back to a mild and reasonable workout. It's been a long time since you've exercised - you could pull muscles.. create tears that will keep you from exercising if you don't be careful.
Good Luck!
thank you you are awesome!0 -
As far as my OP, it sounds like I just need to fight through it. Thank you for the on topic responses folks, I'll just keep on "keeping on". Still not sure how I'm going to find the motivation to put myself through this pain though; as a HSP I have very low tolerance to pain.0

I'd like to take the time to point out one of our guidelines.
QUOTE:4. Show Respect to All Groups and Individuals
No derogatory references to sex, gender, weight, body-type, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation, or endorsement of violence against any person or group, even if couched in humor, will be permitted. This includes expressing stereotypes about any group or community.
Please refrain from arguing about the use of the word. It's much easier to not use it than to convince someone on why you might decide to.
Since the OP has found his answer, this thread has been edited and locked.0
