Hellooo. My boyfriend and I are cooking dinner tonight. What are some healthy meals we could make. I thought salmon...but Ive been looking it up and it seems to have alot of calories in it. Any ideas? Suggestions?

  • I like salmon, its really not that bad if you think about all of the other really good things in it and you only eat like 5 or 6oz of it. I am making fajitas tonight, well not really "making" them but its only 600 something calories for them... My food diary is public if you wanted to take a look, that's how I get some ideas sometimes is by checking out other peoples diaries... Good luck.
  • Salmon is very good for you in Omega 3. It is the good fat.
However, you could always cook up some baked tilapia with a sprinking of seasoned bread crumbs on top and a little zest of lemon. Have with a side of tons of roasted veggies that have been roasted with olive oil & salt & pepper. To add a little starch could make some whole wheat couscous with some rasins or crasins mixed in.

turkey burgers are a great dinner. Just make sure you get the 97 % fat free turkey. I put avocado and pepper jack cheese and use the whole wheat buns. They are pretty good and you could get sweet potatoes to make sweet potato fries. Its one of my favorite meals. I also love spaghetti with turkey as the ground meat and whole wheat pasta. The tomato sauce is not that bad in calories or fat. Hope this helps

Salmon is not a bad thing. It's got a higher calorie count then say...chicken breast but it is full of nutrients and omega 3"s that you wont get from another protien. As a side note, I have been eating salmon for dinner about 4x's a week for the last 10 days and the difference in my skin and hair is unbelievable. So that is my speal on salmon. lol.

My other half and I are grilling tonight. Men like fire, and it goes without saying that the grill is their friend (although I think that I am better at it then he is- cnstant debate  ) but you guys can plan a cookout. Create a marinade together, maybe throw on some baked potato (sweet potatoes are a great option) and make a nice salad with lots of veggies. Oh yea, and a big pitcher of sangria! Then just enjoy each others company! ITS FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although not fresh, the Gorton's grilled Wild Salmon Fillets are only 100 calories each. Some broccoli with that, would be less than 200 calories, and then if you wanted to have a starch or whatever else, like potatoes or rice.

I got my recipe out of the biggest loser family cook book! I love it!!!
Its called Rosemay Sweet Potato Steak Fries
The recipe calls for 2 lbs of sweet potatoes- for me and my husband i cut up 3 med size ones
    1 tablespoon of minced garlic
1 table spoon of dried rosemary
    1 1/2 teaspons of evoo
    salt to taste
I didnt use the rosemary with mine because I didnt have any and they were still good
You cut the sweet potatoes up into fries(I did thick fries) put them in a bowl and mix all of the ingredients (except salt) together in a bowl
    preheat oven to 450F
place the fries on a nonstick cookie sheet where they are not touching each other
bake for 10 to 15 mins and then flip over and cook for another 10 to 15.
    They were really good!!
There is another sweet potato recipe that I love too! Its like a baked potato but with sweet potatoes
You get a med size sweet potato and stick it with a fork 5 times on each side. Cook in microwave for 5 mins on each size. If it is still hard after that cook for 1 to 2 more mins. Then fix like a baked potato and use the spray no calorie butter and one wedge of the laughing cow light garlic and herb cheese. It is so good and only 166 cal, 5 g protein, 31 carb, 2g fat, 1g sat fat, 5g fiber
  • I have made roasted sweet potato cut up so you can call it fries too just shapped different. They carmelize and get sweet from being cut into small pieces, Yum!

We went out tonight and had this yummy salad with grilled veggies and salmon on top at Longhorn steakhouse. you can get just the salad part but I wanted a protein with it. I am going to have to make it myself at home!
