Hello All,

I started calorie counting and general self education 15 months ago. I got to my goal weight in little under 6 months, 130kg to 100kg. Being a tall guy since i got my results ive been hovering between 97kg and 104kg which i'm happy with.

I'm now embarking on a new journey, and thats now bulking up.

After 15months of sitting under 1800 calories, i'm now going to be increasing to 2500 calories.

WIll be going on 3x 60min weight sessions with a personal trainer every week and hope to bulk up muscle mass over the next 3 months.

Then in the new year i plan to do a 1700calorie a day programme (cut), and be in good shape for my holiday overseas.

Would like to have a few more friends on here, it helped me alot last time with motivation, and getting involved in other peoples journeys.

So please add me =) I'd be happy to offer any advise were possible, i have learnt alot through this expiriance.

I am doing the exact same thing. Bulking now until January first. You might want to look at your calories level.....it is quite low for a bulking guy.

    Good luck

Lots of good info over at bodybuilding.com

There are a lot of good artciles on suppliments there too if you are thinking of adding them into your plan. I've ready really great things about CLA and L-Carnitine. There are lots of informational videos, articles, and if you get tired of paying a personal trainer or once you learn proper forms if that is your goal, you can use some of their plans to meet your goals. The one I'm on is almost like having your own personal trainer. There's a meal plan, each day's workout is planned out, etc.

Here's the plan I'm on, which is to lean out, so it probably isn't for you, but you could find some good info in it I'm sure or from the videos. Check out some of the other plans as well, it may save you a nice chunk of money if you decide to follow the plan instead of hiring a trainer. I guess it depends on your experience level with lifting.

You can go here and find plans to both bulk up or lean out. Here is the "Find a Plan" link:

Here's the plan I'm on for getting lean:

    Good luck!

@ElizaDnl - Thanks, and i basically did it by never going over 1800 calories. I counted everything from milk in my coffee, i did not stop eating any foods that i enjoyed, i just had smaller portions. I also am a shift worker, i work 2pm to 10pm, so all this was also done on take away food, i mainly had curries such as lamb rogan josh, green and red thai curreies. Also in australia we have some great ready meals called Emilies Kitchen, which i grew fond off.

Also subbing my old 4 bits of toast for brekky for porridge helped alot!

@NomNomCupcake Bulking up is quite new to me also, I knew the basics, u cant diet and bulk muscle, as muscle needs alot of protein and calories. I was given some good advice early on, get to my natural sustained- comfortable weight, then gain muscle mass.

@Yanicka1 My personal trainer set this up for me, i'm getting my 200g of protein on 2500 calories, generally eating well. I dont want to do an extreme bulk up. This is a short term goal to tip my toe in the water so to speak. 3 month bulk with a 1 month cut.

@Marc713 I agree alot of information there, i was initially looking at just doing weights from home, but i think for the results i wanted i needed to join a gym and get a PT, which is what i have done. Its obviously not the cheapest option, but i have alot of faith in my PT as he has alot of exp and is not only a personal friend but is soo knowledgeable. I think the extra pressure of him being a mate is pushing me harder not to let him or myself down. Do you plan to "Lean out" - (cut) at the end of a set period of bulking also?

Ok. It is just that as a 4'11" female I bulk at 2200 calories so it sound quite low.

I'm assuming you have a Ectomorph body type, unfortuantly i'm a Endomorph which is why my personal trainer put me on 2500 calories atm. I think i might of infulenced the decision also as i'm so hesitiant to eat more after so long of having a very restrictive calorie budget.

But i guess it may increase as i build more muscle growth which will need more fuel.
