Eating out

Okay so I am going away for the weekend and I have found it easy to monitor what I am eating when I am preparing it all myself at home. But I have my mum's wedding and we are eating out. How do I keep track of what I am eating when it is off a restaurant menu? Or worse yet when I am getting a meal on the train, they have calorie counts for the snacks but not the meals they provide for breakfast/lunch/dinner. It is not an issue going to my mum's because I can prepare some stuff before I go there but coming home it will be an issue.
What is a good way to make some good guesses?

Hmmmm, I would have to see what they have and pick the most healthiest. Maybe they may serve salad, fruit cups, etc. Or if you can bring your own meal bars and snacks that will help. With this being a weekend thing only, you should be ok even if you go over your calories a little, with the wedding dinner, desserts. Just do it in moderation and then get back on your program when you get home. See if you can squeeze in a workout, even if it's 15 minutes.0

They serve a great fruit salad XD
Yeah I am bringing my own stuff on the way to the wedding but the way back I won't because I am not shopping in the city lol food prices are more expensive there and I won't really have time.0 -
You can be a bit loose on the odd day, just use your common sense with choices and pick something vaguely similar from the database. If you go a few hundred over one weekend it's not exactly going to set you back much as a one off.0

Just try to do the best you can, and don't overthink it.
If you can, try to google and see if the restaraunt has their nutrition facts online, otherwise, just try to order something "healthy" sounding, and ask whether it is prepared with butter/cream/other naughty things, and customize your order to be more health conscious.0 -

simply stay away from the items you know are not healthly. try to google the item you're eating and do a "guess-amation on calories, in an effort to get some accountability.0

See if the restaurant has nutrition facts online. If not, then go with single item foods that you can look up. Also ask for a to-go container with the meal and immediately put half the food in it when you are served. If need be, you can measure that half when you get home so that you have a good idea of what you ate.0
