Personal Deadlifting Question - For the Guys

    Alright, so as my weight gets heavier and heavier I've come to notice a problem. I have very big thighs, and while some of it is fat most of it is solid so I'm not sure this problem will ever go away. When I get to the full upright position of my lift, the bar is basically on my two best buds. At first it wasn't that big of a deal as the weight wasn't much, but now that I'm in the 200+ range it's getting very uncomfortable. Widening my stance isn't an option, so I need to know if anyone else experiences this, and what they do to help.

    I'm honestly thinking about buying a cup...


    Buy the cup...I have problems as well. As far as the thighs go just wear long shorts to fight the rub.

    Try bringing your palms in one to two fingers on each side. From your picture it looks just a tad bit wide.

    yeah when deadlifting or really lifting anything heavy with your lower body and back you should be wearing a jock or some sort of compression short. This is why in competition those guys wear the tight suits kind of like wrestlers. Try strapping your buds in and see if that helps!
    That is not why they wear those tight suits.

    And to the OP, suck it up. A little nut mashing never hurt anyone.

    I think it's just a bit wide. bring feet in a couple inches, and bring hands in a couple inches and see how it feels.



    peuglow is correct.
    Trust me, my "tight suit" actually pinches the hell out of my nuts, and I have bruises all over my legs from pulling in my suit. they hurt.

    this is one of the things I "just do" and I think I'm at my thights at lockout...maybe I have bigger thighs than the OP though.

    IF all else fails and you don't like having crushed berries, you could always switch to the hex bar (aka trap bar) and the problem will be solved...unless you are just a genetic freak.

    This thread got pretty funny. At any rate, thanks for all of the suggestions. I looked at the price of compression shorts and decided to use some other suggestions. I brought my feet in about an inch/inch and a half along with my hands. With this my problem is solved. Thanks everyone!

    I actually did the same thing and it worked for me. I make sure I keep my feet pointing straight ahead too so I can bring my arms in even more.

    i have the same problem with BB shrugs.

    Spread your legs a bit when shrugging so the boys can go futher back between your legs. If that doesn't work, quit your current job and get into porn asap. ;)
