Basal Metabolic Rate

So apparently, my basal metabolic rate is around 1600 calories a day without any sort of effort to burn off.
I usually do up to an hour of exercise a day; total energy loss from that equals probably around 1700 calories.

However I have a very small appetite and struggle to eat enough - if I go into minus calories I don't really notice any effect on my alertness or whatever. I could eat 500 calories a day and really not care - but if I eat more than that I feel really bloated.

It's not even the food amounts, it's the calories. I much prefer to eat salad or fruit than pizza, anyway.

So, does the requirements here for what it says you should be eating - take into account your bmr?
Sorry if this makes no sense.

What are you doing for exercise that burns 1700 calories at a time???

If you prefer things like salad or small amounts, you can get more calories without eating huge amounts of food by adding calorie-dense foods like avocado, dressings with olive oil, nuts, cheeses, etc.

How long have you been burning this many calories and eating so little? If all your numbers are correct, I can't see how coming in at negative net calories for a prolonged period of time won't have a detrimental affect on your energy level and ability to function in general.

I make it a rule for myself to not net below my BMR, but I love food, and rarely have a problem meeting that goal.

i agree 1 hr or playing athletic sports doesnt even burn 1700 lol most people average 600-800 in 1 hr.

I do HIT and stuff like step ups (which can burn 15 cals a minute if you do one in two seconds) and I run and swim and row. It's all added on though, I try to spread it out throughout the day. Also I do a lot of walking which really adds up. I prefer step ups though becaue I can do them whislt watching TV haha!

Oh, okay I was worried about that but I never have the stomach (ha) to eat what I should be eating. I dislike milk and cheese and oil andstuff so have been trying to find an alternative... Thnk you! I'll try nuts! And erm, well most of my life really. I joined here so that I could see what I eat - which is a quarter of what I should be - and track my exercise. I've been tracking it for two weeks.

Oh, also - if I go out with friends I eat up to 1000calories in a day which is obviously better, btu I can't afford it. Sigh.
    Thank you for the help!
