I read that sugar/carbs boost the seratonin levels in the brain. I would have that (small) cookie and take a break with a large decaf coffee. It's stress eating the whole bag that will sabotague your weight loss goals. Also when you eat a lot of the same food the flavor decreases. I like to have rich, dark chocolate or any small flavor rich treat on hand for those moments. The stronger the flavor the more satisfying.0

A few years ago, i used to buy a bar of dark chocolate once a week or so, so that i could break off a square and have a meditative/calming moment. I think that could still work as long as i don't start buying more than that or start taking that behavior as justification to buy candy as a snack.
here is another tip i got from somewhere else: I am trying to substitute herbal tea (like peppermint or chamomile). i have a hot water pot that i can plug in to any room of the house and a travel cup (and ice to make it cool faster); the tea has flavor but no calories.0
