Intuitive eating

I've realized that the more I restrict myself, the more I end up overeating. I read the book, "Intuitive Eating" a few years ago and LOVED the concept. It's basically eat only when you're hungry, whatever you are hungry for, only until you are satisfied. I got the when hungry and what I wanted down pat, but couldn't stop when satisfied. Basically, if I put no limits on myself, I go WAY overboard. Certainly, there has to be a happy medium between the 2?

I tried that also and already live that way to an extent, but like you, there is no end to my supposed hunger sometimes. The brain and body are so complicated with signals, functions, and emotions.0

I have been trying intuitive eating for a few months. Eating slower can help you identify when you are full. I also still weigh & measure my portions...I just don't record or keep track of the calories. Measure the portions and just eat that, then wait for a while. The other thing that has really helped me is eating what I truly want. It is so much easier to be satisfied if you eat what you wanted instead of what you are supposed to eat.
Last thing that really curbed my overeating was writing down how I felt when I overate. That bloated, stomach distended feeling is horrible to me so making a note of it helps me to remember the feeling and avoid it.0
