What's your scary story?

Kind of a scary moment tonight. Today was kinda' hot and muggy, so I went for a nice, leisurely walk this evening, after dark when everything cooled off. First time I've done this in months, since I started training for my 5K Zombie Run, and I was really enjoying myself. As I walked around the corner, I saw two other couples walking on the other side of the street . Fifteen minutes later I was far from home and deep in thought when a guy in a pick-up (of course...this is Texas) pulled up beside me, slowed to a stop, and turned on his hazzards. Looking around, I realized I was all alone on the street. (Guess everyone else had gone in to watch the vice-presidential debate.) As he rolled down his window, I wondered if I was going to be raped or killed or both. Even still, I walked up to the window, being more afraid of running away screaming and looking like a fool! Turns out, he just needed directions.

But it was still scary...for a moment. What's your scary story?

I hit a deer in the winter about 10 miles from the closest town. I was in professional dress as I was coming home from the office. Standing along the road waiting for my dad who I called to come get me. A 1980's Pontiac Grand AM pulled up (all rusted out) with 3 "hillbillies" in the car. Looking and smelling rather poor. The one in the back pokes his head out the window, looks me up and down and says "nice jacket". I instantly started hearing the tune to Deliverance playing in my head.

Thankfully they went about there way.
  • When we first moved to our apartment, my husband went to work . It was night time and I was alone. Well, I stayed up really really late that night. Around 3 am I decided to go to bed. Well, I laid down for like 10 mins. Out of nowhere some comes beating on our front door! I just froze! I wasn't about to answer the door. Then whoever it was went around to my back door and starting beating on it. It couldn't have been any one i knew, they where all in bed. Talk about scary!

Waiting for my son's bus on the curb of my street (he rides a special needs bus due to ADD and having an IEP, so I have to meet him) and this old dude pulls up in his car to ask why I was standing on the corner... Seriously creeped me out! LOL

that kinda woulda freaked me out. Anytime I go walking, I bring my bulldog. He's so scary complete strangers go to the other side of the street to walk. Kinda cracks me up....I've been in scary situations like crazy.

When I was younger in California, my friend and I rode our bikes to the post office to mail a letter for my mom. We went in and came back out and got on our bikes. This homeless man that was having a bad hair day was playing with his balls-dude, that was scary!

    1. chased by a man with a knife on a deserted street in Athens, Greece when I was 20.

    2. assaulted and beaten (attempted but failed rape) by an unknown man who broke into my home while I was sleeping early in the morning when I was 23.

    3. 1st child broke away from me in a crowded area when he was 3 - lost him in the crowd and couldn't find him for 10 minutes.

    4. 4th child wandered away at the beach (foolishly, I went alone to a crowded beach with 4 small kids). Couldn't find her for about 10 minutes.

I would like very much to have no more scary situations.

Man................................you had me going.............and all for that!! lol...........I mean come on. Okay okay, your a woman, but still, if you considered rape and death for a moment, I'm surprised you approached............maybe that reverse psychology stuff.......maybe he was going to rape and kill you, and you changed his mind with your fierce approach.

I have too many scary moments, you'd have to mention an age, or age range. I'm 32
  • One Saturday afternoon, I was sitting in my apartment browsing on my computer. There was a loud knock at my door. I do not have a peephole and even though I wasn't expecting anybody, I did not peek through the blinds. I open the door and this big, somewhat scary looking dude just walks into my apartment. I immediately thought (rather overdramatically, in hindsight) "Oh God! I've just opened my door to a home invasion or something. Please don't let him hurt me!" I watched him look around and then he looked at me with wide eyes and stammered out "I'm so sorry.... I've got the wrong apartment." He then ran out. I think he was more freaked out than I was. Still, my heart was in my thoat for hours after. Mainly because I was dumb enough to open the door wide without checking to see who it was first.

I walked in on my parents having sex in high school talk about real horror movie
  • In Naples Italy my cousin and I were walking back to our hostel (in the dark because we didnt get back from a day trip in time) and got surrounded my a group of 9 or 10 guys. They were making comments but we could not understand what they were saying. Thankfully we were able to keep walking and get past them. Also when I was 16 i had open heart surgery and going into the operating room, not knowing if i was going to come out of there alive was pretty scary.
  • One evening (some years ago in college), I got this strange hankering for a Subway sub at around 8 in the evening and so I decided to walk the mile and a half it took to acquire said sandwich---y'know, seeing as I didn't have a car and the nearest Subway was just a way's way off campus. I got my food and halfway back to the school it begins to rain some. Rather than freak out, I simply shrugged it off and kept going. Maybe a few minutes later, this car pulls into this nearby driveway, thus obstructing my path. It was a guy who looked to be around my age.. maybe a few years older or so who asked me if I needed a ride. It was a kind gesture in hindsight, but I'm just not used to strange men offering me rides. After declining once, he went on again and again, even going as far as to say, 'Look, I'm not gonna do anything to you'. I didn't get any red flags from him, but I wasn't about to take any chances. Eventually he scoffed loudly and backed off... annnd I raced back to the dorm.

I was driving home from work one night. There was a light snowfall. My car skidded and stalled; it came to rest at an angle crossing multiple lanes. I had just stepped out of the car when it was struck from behind by a truck which was going too fast. As the car spun around, it knocked me into a ditch alongside the road. I just remember everything spinning and then being on the ground. I came away from it with a small gouge on one arm, but in good shape otherwise. It took me a while to get back behind the wheel of a car after that.

This was also scary, but not as scary as the other story...I was out for an evening walk last night, way after dark, when I noticed a toad sitting in the middle of the sidewalk. It didn't move when it saw me, so I had to walk around it, hoping the entire time it wouldn't freak out and jump at me!!! Creepy!
