Type in google "X lbs = ? ounce", where X is the number you scale shows when set on lbs.
Or else, search on google for online (mass) converters.
  • You will probably find that you need a scale that measures in smaller increments for adequate food measurement. For instance, there are 16 ounces per pound and 28 grams per ounce. We often see measurements in grams...so you can see the problem with a scale that only goes down to the pound... :)

My suggestion is to go out and get a scale that measures in smaller measures. In food you will be using oz almost all the time...rather then converting every item - its worth the money (I got my scale at the $ store for 1$)
For now do a google search and there are a lot of charts out there thatyou can print and keep in your kitchen

Get a digital scale. Its a bit more expensive, but worth every penny. I have one and love it. It has the an option to weigh in grams or oz. Easy for us Canadians that use metric and imperial.

We found one today at Walmart...hubby said he'd buy it :)

i am so glad that we finally have one now....it will be a new counter top "accessory"..i tested it tonight with some baby carrots...it was so funny tho because i had no idea the scale measure in ozs....the button says kgs/lbs so when i checked the database, it said i could have 3ozs of baby carrots....so i converted that into kg's cause i thought the scale was in kgs....it came out to 0.08kgs..........so when i put the carrots on the scale, there were only 4 carrots..LOL......i was thinking, omg that can't be right.....then i looked at the scale again and seen "oz"....i was like OH MY GOD, it DOES measure ounces......so then i realized i was allowed more than just 4 carrots....hubby said "that looks much better"....oh my....it was just one of those things that you had to be there
