i am, was, an "energy" addict. I'm always tired, have been since pre-teen years.

i OD'd on caffeine, yellow jackets, had a mild heart attack. was givin adderall for my ADD and that gave me a boost, then I was introduced to meth, which I got addicted to for seven years. After having panic attacks to much, heart stress, and breaking up with the bad angry guy who introduced me to it, i got off. stopped smoking (ty current love, my hubs) gained a ton of weight, lost most.

now I can not handle ANY CAFFINE.

and there is a lesson in moderation right there. lol.

i wish there was a non caffeine boost that i could handle. if anyone knows of one, i'd love to know!

Well there goes my effort to one up anyone with my caffine story thanks. You win lol
  • Hi I always have two cups of strong coffee about an hour before training, it results in a good workout. If I forget to have coffee before a workout, I suffer :grumble: Coffee has resulted in me losing a lot of weight as I find it reduces my appetite.

It's inferior to many herbal stimulants, but it will suffice.

Can't do it for numerous reasons
    1) Makes me almost hypomanic - won't get any sleep if I have it after 4pm
    2) acid reflux - it really gives me problems
    3) Seems to curb my hunger but I end up starving
    4) I like too much to pair it with processed sugar - not a good combination!
I cut it out back in April - very hard at first but one of the best things I could have done.

What do I do when I get tired? Sometimes I take a walk, sometimes I try to do a little exercise, sometimes I drink a ton of water and those things sometimes help me wrestle through it. Also I try to get rest if possible.

But I am not the average bear when it comes to this particular "drug".

I love it but it hates me! I had to give it up for 3 years because it made my ibs so bad, I started drinking it again this year and now it just makes me really tired! It got to the point that I almost passed out, i'm awaiting blood test results to see if I've ****ed up my iron levels drinking too much!
I take an iron multivitamin everyday and can honestly say I could live without caffeine, I have so much more energy in the morning when I sleep enough of course.

Wow I thought by the title of this thread that it was going to be much more light hearted:sad:

But good job kicking your addictions and getting your life together!! :flowerforyou:

Have you tried B-12. Or you might even try eating foods that contain B vitamins.

I love caffeine, but caffeine doesn't love me back. I used to have a lot of coffee and black tea - we have a very fancy machine in work that makes Lattes, Cappuccinos etc etc, even caramel or Chocolate mint flavour!

But then I found out that caffeine is the main trigger for my IBS and my life has been so much better since I've cut it out. I have the occasional coffee at a friend's house still, but only once a week as a maximum - otherwise the IBS strikes (and you don't want to know what that does  )

Coffee doesn't bother my IBS because I take all-natural psyllium husk fiber every morning (I use Trader Joe's brand). The fiber is incredible and has totally disappeared my IBS symptoms. But don't use fiber supplements with additives, unnatural ingredients or citrus flavors (like metamucil) - it won't work because the additives are harsh on your stomach. Give it a try - I hope this helps!

I gave up caffeinated coffee about 5 years ago, and I don't drink much soda or tea, so I get very little caffeine. The initial few weeks of getting off of caffeine were really hard, but at this point I feel much better for it.

I get up at 4:30am-5:00am most mornings, and hit the gym for 2 hours. I have no problem with my energy levels during work. Also I've also found that now that I'm off caffeine, I don't get sleepy in the afternoon.

LOVE! I'm a good Latina :) I usually have about 1 coffee every morning with 2% milk. I don't consider myself addicted, I just enjoy it. However I have cleaned up my drinking of coffee: I only take it with lowfat milk, never get fancy coffee drinks, and I never drink it after 3pm. I used to drink too many at work to get me through the afternoon, but it didn't work - I was still just as tired and unproductive. I also don't drink any soda.

I have my morning coffee, always. I can't skip it or else my day is ruined...It might be all in my head, but my day seriously seems unbearable without coffee in the morning. If I'm dragging in the afternoon, I'll take a 5 hour energy. I'm not sure if they're good for you or not, but I love how low in calorie the are while still being super effective.

Caffeine is BAD BAD BAD for half my household. It is a MAJOR migraine trigger for my 9 year old daughter. Now that we are out of the Ohio Valley she isn't nearly as sick but I still avoid it as much as I can with her.

My caffeine comes from snorting cocaine off of hookers...

I've cut it out because it makes me really anxious. Don't even drink coke now, except maybe a few times a year when I have caffeine free. Anxiety levels have been much better! X

i know that 5 hour energy has it in it, but i can no longer find the caffine free ones :grumble:

and the capsules i tried do not seem to do it. To bad i can't get a b vit shot daily!

I'll have to look up foods, I might be missing them in my diet. 5 bucks say they are the ones I don't like. lol

Just be careful with red bull... Very acid and attack and dammage the liver. It's also full of sugar and makes you bloated.
    Just saying....
