Exercising when you ache...

So i have been working out almost everyday now for a month or so... so its become a habit and i enjoy it... i also continue to workout even when i have a few muscle aches and pains.. or even minor twists in my joints.. is this ok....?? do any of you do this as well?

like i had a twisted ankle... i continued to run etc.. now the ankle is fine.. only to be replaced with a dull uncomfortable ache that runs from my thigh to pelvic joint(which i think came from when i was sprinting the other day)... anyhoo..it hurts a bit when i walk but not too much... i m still going about running, aerobics, lifting etc.. hoping that is disappears within the week..

You really need to give your body a rest between workouts. It's entirely too easy to damage tendons and muscles if you consistently overwork them on a regular basis without a rest, and ignoring the pain can only lead to further injury. I know, I did the same thing when I lost weight 10 years ago, and as a result had to have back surgery. Give your body a rest every few days.

You need rest days. You should have at least one a week, two preferably. Exercising with aching muscles is fine - exercising through pain is not. If you have a twisted ankle or sharp pain, you need to rest until you recover. You can maybe do some modified exercises - like focus on strength training your arms while your ankle is twisted, but please don't put extra stress on the injured body part. You are setting yourself up for more injury and failure.

If the ache or pain changes the way you are running, rest.

I sprained my ankle a few years ago and continued to run on it. It has caused long term issues.

BTW - I run every single day and lift 1 -2 times per day. Rest days are relative to overall fitness
