From sick to fit

Hi ladies and gents. Alright then, here's my story:
I had every excuse to be unfit. I was a sickly kid. Chronic Pneumonia at 3, weak immune system thanks to that, always catching colds. Then developed Bradycardia at 8. In hospitals every year. Got Cardiac dysrhytmia at 12. Even more time spent in hospitals, often excused from P.A., whenever I attended I was always picked last in teams due to my general weakness and inability to run around much. To top it off I got beaten to a pulp at 14 by a man in his 30s for not having a cigarette when he asked for one on the street. Broken teeth, left eye so swollen I couldn't see out of it, concussion, shaking hands, I recovered, got my teeth fixed and decided I had enough.

Started to go to boxing class with my friend at 15 combined it with lifting weights at 16, picked up running at 20, joined a rugby team for few years at 25, started to do P90X at 28 and after several rounds of that I'm currently chipping away on the P90X2 program. I still have dysrhytmia but I haven't had any discomfort since forever. I had two cases of Transient Ischemic Attacks (mini strokes) in last 3 years, so now I take blood-thinners daily to avoid a possible stroke. Nevertheless I exercise 5 - 6 times a week, do my best to eat healthy and try to play the best game with the cards I've been dealt.

This is great! It's like when I see a 92 year old on the news doing yoga, or teaching yoga. Makes me think........ my circumstances are not as bad as I feel inside they are (I'm changing my thought patterns). Thank you for posting, and for being the inspiring fellow you are!
    Best, Gretchen

Thanks a lot, it's all a matter of going after what you want. The more obstacles there are in your way, the sweeter it will be once you reach your goal.
