WTF Scale

Usually when I weigh myself I do it twice and the result is within a half a pound or so, today I weighed and the damn thing fluctuated by almost ten pounds.

I thought maybe the batteries were dying (it's a digital scale) so that is what the problem was, but then I placed two 20 Lb dumbbells on it and it read 40 Lb almost instantly.
I ended up using the using the weight that was close to being most consistent but WTF?? Anyone else have a scale vary by so much?

I'll have to go to the Dr later and use their scale, problem is I usually weigh after drying off from my morning shower and I really doubt anyone at the Drs office is gonna want to see me in my normal weighing in outfit =P

The doctor's scale always weighs me different than my home scale, anyway.

You need a new scale, homie. If it ain't the batteries, it's busted.

does your scale have the ability to go from lbs to kg almost a 2x difference 10 kg = 22 lbs just asking seems like the easiest answer

Did you move the scale between weighings? Sometimes, particularly on uneven floors, the placement of a scale makes a big difference. Did you already doubt your scale's accuracy? If not, why do you usually weigh twice?

I went through the same thing. I ended up buying a new scale and now it says I am heavier than what the old one said. But at least I am not getting error messages anymore when I step on the damn thing.

I weigh twice just to be sure it's accurate, normally it's right around the same thing. But today the reason it freaked me out is because the initial weight was 334.2 which would mean I had gained like 12 Lbs in a week (a week I worked out a lot more and ate a lot better) so I weighed again and it was 322.2, the lowest weight it showed was 316.2.
For some reason the .2 was consistent on all of em lol. 320 was the weight that showed up the most so thats what I went with, but I think I do need to get a new scale soon.

I had a scale that always did that - it would be anywhere from 1-15 lbs difference in just the time it took to step off and back on again. I ended up getting a new scale. If it was just a one time thing though I wouldn't worry - sounds like the 2nd weight was more in line w/what you were expecting so I'd go with that.

I noticed sometimes my digital scale will hold onto my last weight whether or not it goes up or down. After weighing the exact same number for 3 weeks in a row, I weighed something substantially smaller, and then weighed myself again and my weight went down 3 pounds. go figure.

I've never had it vary by that much though.

This must be a week that scales fear because mine went wonky too after 7 years of great service. According to it I lost 12 pounds overnight. Luckily when I bought a new one it weighed the same as the old one when it was correct.

My scale was doing that, then it weighed me in at 80 pounds, so I got a new one!
