Need Workout Advice for my goals (Newbie)

My goals are to primarily drop fat weight off my frame. I am not too worried about gaining muscle mass (maybe later) but I want to become healthier.
My goal right now is not to run a 5K or anything like that, just to drop pounds and even become more cardiovascular fit would be good though.
Should I be heavy in cardio or weights or 50/50.
I try to work out 3 to 5 times a week but want to make the most of it. I have a gym membership.
I do treadmill and a mix of body weight exercises and weight machines currently.

Sounds like what you're doing in the gym already sounds good, but more important than your workouts is your diet. Diet is key for weight loss.0

A really good workout program incorporates all things. Do 2-3 days of weight lifting (free weights, no machines) and 2-3 days of cardio on adjacent days, for example.0

This, along with making sure you are in a calorie deficit will get you there. Alpine and Dope both have it correct.
I would also add that it helps greatly to have some other goal in mind. Lift a certain amount, run a certain distance, wear a certain size, and set a time frame for getting there. Staring at the scale each week gets old. Fast. To help me stay focused, I set a bunch of mini goals along the way that had nothing to do with the scale. That way, every few weeks or months I could record a victory, as opposed to each Friday thinking that I still had 48 lbs to go0
