For those eating high protein while doing weight training. When you take off a week for "recovery", and do light exercise and stretching, do you continue to eat the same way? Or change it up? And how?
I'm currently doing a 3 month rotation of Cathe Friedrich's STS (but mish mosh, not as is). Every 5th week is "Recovery", which only calls for stretches/yoga 3 times that week. I'm trying to eat less, but I feel hungry sometimes. Not sure if I should keep up the high protein/calories during the rest week.
What do you do?

Many weight training programs include 3-4 weeks of progression, followed by a week of "deload" at a lower weight.0

So you eat less on the "deload" week? How much less?0

Oh sorry, kinda skipped that.
Eat the same, for recovery purposes.
Some people eat lower carbs on off-days or recovery days. YMMV.0 -
Bump, I want to too.0

Keep protein constant even during a deload week or a week off altogether. It will help maintain the lean muscle tissue.0

It's called a Recovery Week for a reason, remember. How can you recover adequately if you are eating much less than you normally do? If you're hungry, you're body is telling you that it needs more food. Treat yourself with respect and eat some carbs/protein/fats to fuel your body and decrease stress.0

When I don't make it to the gym I cut back on carbs and calories pretty heavily. Carbs are mainly post workout for me, so if I don't workout, I don't eat as many carbs.0

Thanks!! I appreciate your advice and help. Makes sense!0

All about the deload week....or 3 lol. I eat the same way - no reason to change. I could use the hypercaloric time period to allow my body to rehab the daily massacre I put it through.0
