Question for runners! Time improvement!

I just finished a big goal race I trained for starting in July - I wanted to run a 10K in under 58 minutes. I did it on Sunday and exceeded my expectations.

I would like to do a half marathon some time in the spring, but it's too early to start training for that. I needed some shorter term goals. I decided to do a 5 mile run on Thanksgiving, which is about 5 1/2 weeks away. So I picked a 5 mile plan to improve time at that distance.

My question is, how much time do you think I'll be able to shave off before then, doing a routine that involves some form of exercise 6 days a week (a day of cross training, two days light running with a concentration on strength training).

I'm asking because I'd like to set a difficult, but achievable goal. I thought maybe 5 minutes, but that seems like an awful lot for such a short period of time. What do you think?

    Try http://my.asics.co.uk/
I know it's a uk site, but it should still work for you.
It lets you plug in distance, current time, next race and it'll tell you what kind of time you can aim for, and if you want it, it'll do a training plan for you.

Thanks that's great! At least I have some clue about what I should be aiming for.

Although their plan is a bit less strenuous than mine. Not sure if I should take that into account.
