Need some help...(Weight training.)

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me learn about weight lifting. I'm currently doing the machines at the gym, but I don't feel...accomplished. I mean it hurts cause I do a pyramid ...(Ex: 15 reps at 30 pounds, ten at 40 and ten at 50) but I think the free weights would do better for me. Of course I have to get over the fear of walking into the free weight section of muscle men (I have a fear of men, nothing disrespectful to them, if you look like you could snap my write with your neck muscles, I'm just gonna be scared.)
I plan to get 'New Rules of Weightlifting for Women' when I can save up the money to buy it.
If you have a site that has a good graphic teaching tool (I need to learn like ...dead lifts, squats, where I put my hands for chest presses...) that would be awesome.

I also have a learning disorder...I've tried to look stuff up by myself but I keep getting brought to sites that want to sell me a protein shot that tastes like lemon aid. I prefer my protein in the form of chocolate. :p

Anyway...if you can help I'd really appreciate it.

Go to the library! No saving involved. :) The book "Starting Strength: Basic Barbell Training" by Mark Rippetoe gives great advice on how to do barbell exercises with good form. It is a classic!

In all honestly the hardest part is getting over the fear of walking into the weight room. And once your there you'll realize how stupid that fear was lol. And I keep hearing about this new rules of lifting book or whatever it is but honestly I don't think it's necessary. Though I'm sure it probably has good tips, I don't think that getting the book should be holding you back from actually starting. If you'd like to use my routine as a starter I'm more than happy to share it with you. I'm on a 3 day split: Monday is chest and triceps, Wednesday is legs and shoulders, Friday is back and biceps, Sunday is optional. If you don't know what some of the exercises are best thing to do is ask for help or you can look on YouTube. Make sure you have a spotter especially if your lifting heavy (which you should be!).

Here's the link to my routine on Google doc :)
