Hey MFPers! I've been on this site for 18 months and have had QUITE the ride. I was a prize student my first 5 months and was doing quite well. I trained for and ran a half marathon in 2009 but the training process managed to contribute to a SERIOUS eventual slide in my nutrition and eating habits. (Such intense training required different eating habits to support the training so I stopped losing any weight, which was fine. But a while after my race I got an injury but kept eating like I was training for the marathon.)
So I've put on a LOT of the weight I worked so hard to lose. I've been in denial but there's no denying that none of my clothes fit right now! I started a group over a year ago with some other ladies and it's still going strong, but I haven't been posting and almost everyone is new. Also (and I don't mean to be remotely snobby) the group is just way too big for me to keep up with. I stopped posting because I didn't have enough time to actually sit down that often and for that long to keep up-to-date and OFFER support as well as receive it. So I'd love to connect with just a small handfull of other people who are fighting their way back on the wagon to go through it together. :D

I'd like to get in on this! I was losing weight pretty well without MFP but my story is pretty similar to yours! Post running- related injury that kept me inactive for a few months, I started gaining weight back way too quickly! That's when I found MFP, which I've been working with since around thanksgiving. My motivation still isn't on track as it should be and I'd really like all the support I could get, especially from other people who are just trying to get back on track!

Awesome! (I sent you a message). Well, I'm off for the afternoon. Not a great start to the day but enough is enough. I haven't been able to face the scale (battery is dead anyway) so I'm getting a new battery on the way home and working my butt off again. The other option just won't work for me!
  • Hi PedalHound. I too have fallen off the wagon. It is so disappointing that I have to wear the one pair of pants I saved after losing a bunch of weight . I call them my "big girl" pants and they are starting to get tight on me. I have eaten my way back to putting back on all of the weight I worked so hard to lose. 25 pounds. I am 5 feet tall so that for me is a lot of extra weight to carry. Perhaps joining with you and others, will give me the extra push I need to get back on and STAY back on the horse again. Yes, count me in.

Hi, i'd love to join you.

Last February it suddenly dawned on me just how unfit and overweight i had become, so.... i joined a gym and managed to shed 14 pounds. Then in June i bought a bike and didn't look back. Between then and November i managed to shed another 21 pounds and had a great time doing it

In early November i had an accident, came off my bike and bashed my leg and ankle up quite well :grumble:

Since then i have put 9 pounds back on.... time to stop it now!!

I kicked my butt on Friday, started calorie counting again and have gone back to the gym.
Today i went for a walk with a friend and her dog - 7 miles!
My hips are aching, i didn't realise how many different muscles walking uses!

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know you

I'd like to get in on this. I was successfully losing, then got lazy and stopped tracking and gained a lot back.

Okay, excellent! So, I'm so sorry if this rubs anyone the wrong way but I don't think any more people should come in on this group. I have to be honest with my time constraints and I don't want to start another group that I end up leaving because it gets too big. So, HI GROUP! Shall we each tell a bit more about ourselves to get to know one another? I'll post my own later tonight after my munchkins are asleep :) Or there's this: http://chroniclesofparenting.bambinibags.com to get a sense of who I am!
Looking forward to tackling this with you guys!!!

Excellent, I'm excited to have this kind of support support system! I'll post a little bit more about myself tomorrow, but today was the first day of me quitting caffeine cold turkey and even though it is only 8:30, I'm beginning to feel a withdrawal headache coming on and it seems like my best option is to not even fight it and just turn in for the day! I had planned on doing the elliptical and some 30 day shred, but I ended up just going for a brisk 2.75 mile walk and that will have to suffice for today! I'm about 200 calories over for the day, but tomorrow is only a half day at work so I'll have plenty of time to make up for it! :) Hope everyone else had a good weekend and here's to a good week for us all!

Edited to add - Jax - a 7 mile walk is a huge achievement! I get sore and cranky doing 5 miles - Great job!!

Hey there, Realize you JUST posted this, but any chance you could take 1 more person, *pretty please!* If not I totally get it, it gets hard to work with a group when it gets soo big.

B, I think you posted with the Sixers for a while there, didn't you? Anyway, sure! Now... closed! ;)

So folks, I wasn't able to come on as I'd hoped over the last day and a bit. So here goes!

I'm a 29-yr-old homeschooling Mama of two wondermonkeys: a daughter who is 5 and a son who is about to be 3. We live in British Columbia and we're a block from the ocean, paths, an amazing park... LOADS of outdoor opportunities! I love dancing, running (despite being off with my injury right now..), yoga, singing, piano, languages... generally I love to learn and I love life.
My weakness is peanut m&m's and I am desperate to get back on track and lose the weight I've gained this year. At my best, I'd lost 53lbs. Then, I changed too many things at once and it was just too much and allowed my old habits to creep back without my even noticing it until my clothes no longer fit.

In the past I've found it works well to set out 4-6 week challenges so that it's long enough to see some changes on the scale but short enough to keep you on your toes. You can set a goal for yourself for the challenge and we can all contribute suggestions or additions to the challenges that will help. So I'll take the leap and set up the first challenge in this thread but in a separate post. I still need to get a battery for my scale but I'm doing that tomorrow. So folks, tell me about yourselves!

    BOTW Round 1, Week 1

Shall we say a 4 week challenge for the first one?

Roll Call: (please copy the list and re-paste in your post, adding your name and info to the list)

Name: PedalHound Goal for week 1: - 4lbs

During this challenge I of course want to make my -4lbs goal and I also challenge everyone to drink all of their water each day. Care to add any mini-challenges to that??
