Feeling fat no matter what?

I am I guess what you'd say recovered from an ED. And while I eat "normal" now, I still have the same kind of thoughts. I rarely think that I look even halfway decent, and if I eat anything over a couple hundred cals I feel like I've gained 20 lbs. Does anybody else deal with this or have any advice? Or tips on how to tone and get more defined and less body fat? I do cardio, circuit training with occasional weight training, and eat pretty well and I'm not seeing any results. Thanks in advance!

Perhaps more than occasional weight lifting. My best results came by alternating cardio and weight lifting days. Muscle is very important once you get near a more normal weight. Learned that the hard way. But you look great from what I can tell.
If certain foods make you feel large, try cutting back on salt. It makes you bloat and that messes with your mental image terribly. Cut it way down and you'll lose plenty of water weight as well0 -
*hugs* well done in having come so far as to overcome an ED.
Honestly, it sounds like you are on track and looking great! Do you have an all round support group? Family, friends, professionals? I dont mean to discount how important you yourself are (You obviously wanted to get better and thats how you are now here) but being surrounded by loved ones and trained professionals to encourage you is important.
The estimated time is takes to truly and completely have recovered from an ED averages out to 7 years.
A nutritionist or psychologist to track calories with you, to measure inches, to work out body image issues (as a recovering ED patient I assume you suffered from some form of body dismorphia), to build confidence and self esteem with as well as keep you from falling back into bad habits may be what you need.
Also, always remember you are beautiful. No one ever credits themselves enough with how good they look, you arent alone. On days I feel like a heffer I just remind myself that my friends think I shine and my husband cannot get enough of me.
*hugs* Good luck!0 -
i feel this way too.... sometimes i look at myself and think damn u lost a lot of weight... and then ill eat and see the fat me again... i dunno its weird0

If that's your picture, you are beautiful. I binge eat and have problems with body image and I am truley overweight. I feel like a failure more than anything. I wonder if I will ever be thin again( i used to be).But I work at a hospital and I see the sick and injured then I put everything in perspective. Even if I never lose another pound, I am healthy, active and independent and that is so much more than some people get.0

Hey, cheer up! you said you are recovering. I know absolutely nothing about this, so I just want to offer words of encouragement. Recognize that it is probably just a physical reaction of your body, and the stomach is sending signals to your brain that it isnt used to the situation. Great job for taking control of the situation! I recently quit smoking, so I know of challenges.
I would definitely talk to a good nutiritionist that is well educated in cases like these. The nutrition of our bodies is very different, and extremely complicated. I am in the middle of finding out how to build muscle, and lose weight, without dying of kidney failure when I am 42. Guess it takes the right amount of protein and other stuff.
Wish you the best with your recovery. Stay focused! If your views do not change, try talking to someone that can help you change your outlook.0 -
This may be my gut talking, but maybe slack off from the workouts a little bit, and let your body gain a little bit of mass? I can only look at the picture, so I do not know if you have a petit figure, or if that is the result of the ed....0

maybe go to counseling if your not?? ED or any disorder is MENTAL.. so of course your not 'fat' or gaining if you eat over 200 cals at once.. its a mental trip to yourself.. you are T I N Y in your pic.. MPO almost too thin.. (but cute and petite) but you need to adress the ED itself.. exercising diff and such wont 'change' it.. you hafta continue to change your MIND.. then the body will follow..0
