Succeeded then failed. Sigh.

I was so proud of myself! I'd lost 50kg (110lbs) over 12 months and was feeling fantastic.
Then last month was my 21st, and I allowed myself a little bit of my birthday cake, chocolate mudcake, and since then I have just gone way down hill. So far down hill I've gained back 5-6kgs and can't seem to stop my uncontrollable eating. And to make matters worse, I have a little cooking side business, and I can't control myself when I'm baking. Eating choc bits, nuts, dried fruit, biscuit batter. And not just small amounts! Handfuls of the stuff!
It's like something has switched in my head and I have to gorge on everything.
Has this happened to anyone else? Like, being successful then just needing to eat everything in sight? I haven't given up my exercise regime, in fact, I just bought myself a new bike because I've fallen in love with bike riding.
I'm so disappointed in myself. I feel like a complete failure.
Any advice, tips/tricks? Or maybe just someone to kick me up the bum?

STAY STRONG!!!
Dont feel like a failure because you have not failed! You lost the equivalent of an entire person in an amazing amount of time! 5-6kg? Pfffft, nothing compared to the amount you managed to work off! You can tackle that no problem!
And no, you are not the only one to have struggled to maintain after reaching their goal! Many people do. It is not something to be ashamed of.
Now, you KNOW the problem! Its the food. So focus on tackling that! Btw, good for you for continuing the exercise! That is a difficult challenge for many many people regardless of weight or fitness level.
You can:
Plan meals in advance.
Eat a HUGE & FILLING meal (within you calories for the day of course) before you bake! If you have to, eat until you are a bit over too full so the baked goods dont seem as appealing.
Look at your before and after pictures every morning and feel proud of what you have achieved and strengthen your resolve to maintain what took you so long to gain!
Account for every single bite! Dont allow yourself to slip and think it is fine to gain another 2 pounds since you have already regained 10. It is a slippery slope and how many people become overweght/obese!
*hugs* Good luck dear!0 -
Been there! Hit my target a couple of times, and been close to it a couple more, and then messed up each time. Really frustrating, but the sooner you can stop the spiral, the less you have to fix.
Why don't you print your post off, and put it somewhere you'll see if when making food choice, like on your fridge or something. Then each time you go to eat, you'll remember how annoyed you are with yourself for losing control.
On my fridge I have the words "Will it bring me happiness?" A snack that last a few minutes rarely offers long term satisfaction, and this reminds me that I'd be happier in the long run if I reach my goal!0 -
Been there, done it, got the bigger t-shirt and the fatter jeans... you know you're going down hill and that's already a good thing to realise. Get back to logging and controlling yourself before you get yourself back into the same problem you used to have. Have you any pictures of when you were bigger? Look at them, remember how miserable it made you.
You can do this, don't just give up. You're clearly very strong, get back to it..
Also *bum kick*0 -
I munch on dill pickles and beef jerky when i bake.... If that helps you for your side business ... I will also clean the kitchen and do yoga while my baking is in the oven... I made a chocolate pie for my family with only tasting half a teaspoon of the filling.. I also have a very tight pair of jeans i wear to remind myself to not over eat while cooking or baking something for other people0

No worries. We've all been there. For me, the hardest part is that first day back on track. After that, it gets easier because I feel so much better physically and emotionally. Like the others said, do your best to plan ahead. Stick to it and you'll feel better soon.0

Don't cut things out of your diet. If you cut out treats when you reach your goal you are much much more likely to fall hard back into bad habits. Losing weight should be a slow and steady process, that way when you reach your goal you won't feel like face diving into "bad" foods because they will still be in your diet but in small quantities.
Don't beat yourself up just get back on the wagon and continue to do a great job like you did before. You've done it once you can do it again0 -
Firstly, congrats in your 110 Ib loss, what an amazing transformation! Yes your weight gain is disappointing, but all is not lost! This is what I'm afraid of to be honest. I'm trying to lose 80 Ibs. I've not been at my ideal weight since I was a teen, but I've got 20 Ibs away and put the weight back in, repeadedly! It's frustrating and such a shame because it does take you back to square one. You have stopped and realised what's happened and can turn it around. Why do you think you want to binge? When you lost the weight, were you very stict? It may be that you felt deprived for so long and now your brain is rebelling. I know that's where I went wrong. So now I'm aiming for slow weight loss, eating 80-90% clean with treats in moderation (I love my wine!). It has to be sustainable. Good luck , you can get back on track!0

Wow. Thanks for all the support! It means a lot.
While I was losing weight, I was pretty strict on my eating, so maybe my brain has flipped out on me and decided to eat everything. ha Blegh, I feel so bad after I eat all that food, but I'll just go ahead and do the same thing the next day..sigh.
But never the less, I'm getting back on track now!
Thank you for the advice everyone, and the bum kicks!0
