Should my goal be 1.5 or 1 lb a week?

I'm currently 5'4 and 185 pounds. I have 45 pounds to lose. Does my goal in my settings need to be 1 or 1.5 pounds. Setting it at 1.5 lbs puts me at 1200 a day. I'm currently doing TurboFire also and eat back some of my calories. Is the 1200 too little? 1lb a week puts me at 1420 a day.

Thanks!

Generally speaking... If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal (1000 calorie deficit). If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal (750 calorie deficit). If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal (500 calories). If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal (500-250). If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal (250).

So you're kind of on the cusp right now. You can try 1.5 pounds for a while, then switch it up in a few weeks, or just stick right with 1 pound a week now.

Personally, I felt so much better on a little more calories that it made weight loss feel effortless, which was MUCH better than losing a little bit faster and feeling deprived.

I would go for 1 lb. a week. MFP has 1200 calories as its minimum because that is the absolute minimum recommended for women, but realistically you should not be netting below your BMR (the amount of calories you need just to survive) on a regular basis. You can get an estimate of your BMR in the Tools section of the website.

Why don't you go for the 1.5, and if you're finding it too hard to stick to those cals, drop it back down to 1 after that for a bit?

Or, keep your body guessing, do one cal allowance one week and the other the next? haha.

Thank you so much! I think that I'll stick with the 1 lb right now. I definitely don't want to feel deprived!
