I've just added swimming a half mile twice a week to my 3 X week cardio/weight training routine. It feels great but I've heard that swimming is not that benificial to weight loss. What have other people experienced with swimming?

Why wouldn't swimming be beneficial? It's a great workout.
I did read, though, that swimming doesn't help increase your bone density, but that's not what we are talking about here...0 -
Swimming is a great exercise! It tones and helps build your Cardio vascular endurance. If you're burning more calories than you're eating, you'll lose weight.
And correct about bone density - since it's non weight bearing, it doesn't help with that, but neither does cycling (and cycling is my sport!)0 -
I love swimming. 2 miles three to 7 times a week.
It is the best no impact aerobic exercise.0
