I'd love to meet a few friends that have something in common with me! I have two children aged 4 and nearly 2, teach middle school special Ed, and have a history of health issues several pages long- which is an incentive for me to take good care of myself!! I have had hypothyroidism since 23 (ten years ago) and fought Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2006. I have been in full remission since, and lost 48 pounds on WW following treatment, I also completed a sprint distance triathlon a year later.
Unfortunately, two masters degrees (grad school stressed me out and I dropped all my good habits) and two pregnancies have taken their toll on my poor body, and I'm finally feeling like I am ready to take control again.
I'm currently wearing a size 16-barely-
Training for a 5k in three weeks
Hoping to reach onederland by thanksgiving
Trying to balance my full time job and side business (I sell handmade mermaid tails-my mom now sews full time)
Obsessing about my lesson planning
Struggling some days with a four year old on the autism spectrum
Laughing regularly about the funny things my 22month old has to say
Working hard on making time fr my husband
so grateful for every minute! The only thing I could ask for is more time in my life, and the rest I can handle!
I set up an account in 2008 after my daughter was born, and have thankfully never returned to my highest weight.
I have no friends I know of on here, but I know how important it is to connect and get support... Thanks to anyone wanting to say hi!

Sounds like your plate is full for sure; so glad that you are one up on the Hodgkins... I am a band director and music teacher in high school... This time of year really takes a toll on my routine because I cannot hit the gym as often as I usually do but marching season is beginning to wind down and we should be able to begin to get back into routine soon... That being said, I still have maintained some weight loss during this season because my activity level is higher due to running around on the football field chasing marching bands... I was 344 in January wearing a size 48 loose fit/ 2X/3X shirt and have progressed to 233.4, wearing a size 34 loose fit today (large shirt) so teaching and weight loss is certainly possible, though I have a healthy thyroid and am a relatively tall (6'3" male)... Best wishes on your journey.0

First off, Congrats!!! on beating your lymphoma! Cancer sucks...nuff said.
This site is great for support! So many of us are here daily supporting eachother, which makes it so unique. I had lost weight on WW too. Then had my baby,m gained 45 lbs, lost it, but also developed hypothyroid after her. Ugh, no fun at all. If I may ask, what meds are you on? I know a lot of people struggle to lose on synthroid type meds. A t3/t4 like armour combination can help this. I have takedn NP Thyroid myself.
Andddd congrats on doing a 5k. I am hoping to be able to run one myself in the near future!0 -
I'm on Synthroid, and constantly obsessing about my dose, which increases all the time. My endo goes by the tsh only, though I've complained about how tough it is to lose weight. I can do it if I stay under the recommended calories, watch my sugars, and work out- but it is hard! I plan on revisiting the cytomel/ armour conversation again at my next visit, thoug- possibly bringin along mfp logs to back me up!! I'd love any other info that is thyroid related, as I really feel thee is more than typical "calories in, calories out" involved at times- sure wish there was a magic pill . I'm doing okay, I just know that it wears on me and I often get discouraged when reaching plateaus.0
