What do you run to?

Options
Hello! I'm in desperate need of some good up-beat music to run to. So, what kind of music do you play when you run? Any suggestions are welcome, but I'm not a big fan of techno or heavy stuff. Here are a few that I have on my iPod now:

B.O.B. - Outkast - the BEST song by far to run to
Dare - Gorillaz
Rebel Yell - Billy Idol
Shut Up & Drive - Rihanna
Just Dance - Lady GaGa

Any suggestions????

Check Yes Juliet (We The Kings)
    The Climb (Miley Cyrus)
    Something Beautiful (Newsboys)
    Something Beautiful (Needtobreathe)
    Satisfy (Vedera)

Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand

I have those in my play list too.....but I don't run with headphones anymore. Got tired of messing with the cords.

Oh fab! New running music! :-)

I run to almost anything by the Killers.

    Also:

    Eye of the Tiger (Survivor)
    One way or another (Blondie)
    Thirst for Romance (Cherry Ghost)
    Viva la vida (Coldplay)
    In my heart (Moby)
To lose my life (White Lies)

Florence and the Machine are currently featuring heavily too.

I often do a search on iTunes when I need new stuff (and take inspiration from the playlists they sell as I often already have all the music listed). Search for 'running' on iTunes and loads will come up.

    Happy running!

I like to use Pandora.com to create my playlists. Type in your favorite song and it creates a station of music similar to that song. :)

I hate having to keep putting headphones back in my ears on a treadmill, and don't like the danger of running on busy roads with headphones in my ears, so most of the time I either focus on what I'm doing (like "ok, now sprint to that tree" or "take it easy until you get to that stop sign, then speed up again"), or I count. It sounds a little crazy, but it pushes out thoughts of "oww, this hurts" or "I can't do this." I will count from 1-100 forward and then backward. This might not work on a really long run but you could always count to a higher number. When I do use music, I like the whole album "Feed the Animals" from Girl Talk. The language is fairly filthy if that's something you don't like, but it's about an hour long and it's a mash up, so it's got pieces of lots of songs and maintains a pretty good beat the whole time.

Here is a site to download running music to. It is free and has the right beat for running. I found the link in FITNESS Magazine. It's http://www.motiontraxx.com/
I have used a couple of their playlists and liked them.

    Happy running!

    Im with Ali258, no music.

I used to run with the iPod, but couldn't manage to listen for traffic and the music at the same time. I use my running as meditation and thinking time, especially on longer runs. I find it much easier to run when you're not paying attention to time or anything like that. But whatever, that's not what you asked. When I used to listen to music I had a mix of alternative rock and (get ready...) classical music. I know, not normal for most people, but if you find the right classical music it will not only pick up your tempo (beethoven or tchaikovsky, seriously) and help keep your heart rate down.

Good luck, it's all a matter of personal preference...

I watch TV when I'm running indoors. When I'm running outdoors, I listen to Suicidal Tendencies.

Was just poking around on iTunes and discovered a band called Cartel. Anyone heard of them? I'm in love! They sound a little bit like We The Kings.

I have to run to house music. The upbeat tempo keeps me going. I can't run to anything else.....it feels too slow.

Been awhile since I ran, honestly. (Lazy n00b is lazy, yes?)

BUT I used to a lot. I LOVED the Halo soundtracks for running. Let me find some of the better songs for running, hmm....

Halo 2 Soundtrack: Never Surrender (though this one is more techno, so you might not like it.)
Halo 2 Soundtrack: Connected by Hoobastank

Halo 3 Soundtrack: Finish the Fight (a good workout starter, as it begins slowly, and works up to a good tempo)
Halo 3 Soundtrack: Halo 3 remix theme
