Losing belly fat

Ok so I am starting to get frustrated because it seems like I am losing weight EVERYWHERE but my stomach. I know its not possible to target specific areas but does anyone have advice from their experiences losing it? I dont want to focus strongly on abs yet as there still covered by fat so whats the point? What is a great effective way of reducing body fat besides what i'm doing already (eating lots of fruit and veggies, lifting weights, cardio 7 days a week moderate intensity). Any tips will be appreciated :)

I have done a ton of research and from what I've read..it's all about general fat reduction.

Also, belly fat is denser AND the last place you lose...so...it will come off eventually

What I have done to increase my fat burning

drink green tea, added coconut oil to my protein shake, taking a natural fat burner, cut down/out white carbs, cut out alcohol and increased cardio and resistance training both in intensity and length...and doing a different workout every day.

It is working..lost an inch last month...

    Good luck!

Having a strong core now will improve your posture... and hence ... the way you look. A tighter core makes you hold everything in ... without really thinking about it. No, it won't take several inches off your waist... but ab work is still worthwhile.

My problem area is lower body .... weight loss is very stubborn there .... it's different for everyone.:flowerforyou:
  • I would watch how much and what type of fruits you eat as many are loaded with sugar. I LOVE fruit so I used to eat a ton of it and it was usually directly after a meal, kinda like dessert. Much better to limit it to 1 or 2 pieces a day and to consume them as snacks throughout the day, not late night or with a meal.

As far as stomach fat goes, definitely don't skimp out on your ab workouts. It's funny everytime I work my abs a lot then next day it feels like my stomach is sticking out more... but it's just because the muscles underneath all the fat are pumped up. Working out your abs will help with your posture, lower back pain, and will overall make your workouts much easier. Keep focused on overall fat loss and ab exercises and maybe limit the sugar in fruits if you are consuming a lot of them and you'll notice a big difference.

Are you lifting weights 7 days a week too? Do you normally do weights then cardio or vice versa? I've been having good results from doing weight training first to deplete my glycogen stores then doing 30-60 minutes of cardio at 60 % of max heart rate for maximum fat burning potential. Everyone is different of course but hopefully one of these things will help you out.

Best of luck with the vanishing belly!

Well, it's actually not true that belly fat is the last fat you lose. The fat you're referring to is what is called visceral fat and it's the first fat we lose generally. That being said, different people have different proportions of subcutaneous fat (the fat everywhere else) and visceral fat. That could be tied to genetics, general diet high in fats, smoking, etc etc. There are a lot of things that could lead to an excess of visceral fat. Beer, for example, is very much linked to visceral fat. And it's actually really important that you work to decrease your amount of visceral fat because it has more health consequences than subcutaneous fat.

That being said, I would just continue on working to eat whole grains and veggies and be active. Green tea has been shown to reduce belly fat in dieters but only in large amounts and every day. If you wanted to add in a cup of green tea every day, that could possibly make a difference. Otherwise, it's pretty much just genetics and you just have to work through it. I can definitely relate as the first spot where I lose weight is on my *kitten* and that's the part of my body that needs it the most! I love my flat white girl butt!

So chin up and keep workin' it! Also, I agree that you should keep up with strength training all muscle groups. Yes, spot reduction doesn't work, but the more muscle you have, the more fat burning you do on a daily basis and the more toned you'll be overall.

Thank you for the advice everyone. I'm curious about these natural fat burners? Is it just an herbal supplement or some crazy genetically engineered thing?

The fat I am referring to is subcutaneous belly fat..not visceral belly fat...I'm a woman and I have loose fat around my belly and hips...but I don't have the large protruding belly like men have or some women...so I have skinny arms, legs, but a "thick" trunk...

When you say visceral you're referring to the kind of fat that gets around your organs right?

This link explains it pretty well I think
