Meal Planning

Hey - - Just looking for suggestions on how you plan your meals for the week.. Do you prepare everything at the beginning of the week and then just eat the same thing all week? I find myself getting bored with my lunches when I plan to take the same thing every day...

You have to find a balance between enough variety to keep you happy and enough consistency to keep you on track. Try rotating 2-3 different lunches and see if that helps.

I actually have a list with each day of the week that I fill out each Sunday. I also have a place to write in my grocery list so then we just hit the store on Sunday and buy everything we need for meals that week. It really doesn't take long and then the list hangs in the kitchen so the kids always know what's for dinner!

This has basically changed our lives and has made it so much easier with such a busy life. Taking the worry out and planning accordingly helps me stay on track!

I don't plan for the week. I only plan daily. I have to keep my plan flexible because I can't always eat perfectly. Of course, the more calories you eat, the more flexible your meal plan can be. If you aren't already eating according to TDEE, then you should consider it.

On Sundays I generally prep a bunch of different veggies, hardboil eggs and cook at least one protein so that we can easily throw together salads for lunch during the week. And also have homemade canned pints of soups, stew, chilli, and fish stocked in the pantry. I got tired of always being the one to plan "what's for dinner" so I made a deal with my husband. He pulls fish, meat, chicken, or whatever out of the freezer every night, and I decide what to make out of it for dinner the next day. It's reduced the "let's grab a pizza" dramatically and reduced our grocery bill as well.

I plan breakfast and snacks. Lunch is normally leftovers from the previous nights dinner and I will cook dinner depending on how much food I have left to eat for the day. On light days we have fish, If I skip a meal then I eat pasta with some kind of cream sauce for dinner LOL.

I weigh out and pre-bag/pack my yogurt, oats, frozen fruit for my overnight oatmeal and yogurt snacks and my boyfriends oatmeal and apple sauce for the week on Sundays.
