Too much sugar - any advice?

Today I discovered you could play around with your diary settings and adjust them to track different nutrients. Just out of curiosity, I started tracking calcium and sugar. It turns out I'm eating plenty of calcium but too much sugar (I was surprised actually, I thought it would be the other way around). :noway: So I looked at where the sugar was coming from and it's coming from all the fruit I eat - I tend to have a large peach (13g sugar) with my cereal (which is low-sugar, by the way) for breakfast and during my morning break I have a small fruit salad (16g sugar) and that's all my sugar gone, give or take a gram or two, and then there's everything else I eat - it all adds up to far over my sugar allowance. But I'm reluctant to kick my fruit habit as fruit is, as we've all been taught since childhood, high in vital nutrients and low in calories and fat. So I was wondering...can anyone recommend some healthy snacks that are a bit lower in sugar? (Obviously I don't want anything high in calories, fat or starchy carbs either.)

You can dial in a higher sugar allowance too.
Strawberries and raspberries etc are lower sugar fruits. Nuts are good too if you can control portions.0 -

Since most of your sugar is coming from fruits, I wouldn't worry too much. However, berries tend to be lower in sugar than other fruits. You could also substitute one of your fruits for a veggie snack.0

More meat and veggies, less fruit.0

I don't eat meat, only fish, and I have fish in some form for dinner pretty much every night. It's quite tricky to snack on...but great advice, thank you!0

Unless you are diabetic, sugar doesn't matter. Stick to your overall macro and calorie goals and you'll be fine.0

Yeah, I was thinking...how bad can fruit be? Lol. But thanks for the advice. I'll take raspberries over peaches in future - cost is a bit of an issue as you can buy peaches in packets but you have to buy berries and stuff in individual punnets. But I can live with it! :happy: Thanks for the advice. xxx0 -

Sometimes I get frozen berries w/ no added sugar (which are cheaper) and let them thaw for a bit before eating. Frozen cherries, blueberries and raspberries are really yummy, very refreshing, and can hold ice cream cravings at bay.0 -
I finally gave up and stopped tracking my sugar...I know what's healthy and what's not, so if I'm over my sugar allotment in fruit, it's no big deal. If it's ice cream and cake...well, I'm just asking for it. So I just try to keep it down in general, but I don't stress out about it. Just my take on things.0
