A calorie deficit is good for dieting.
Eat below your TDEE and you'll lose weight.0 -
Are Colgate-Palmolive products good for hygiene?0

There are more nutritious foods you can pick for breakfast but when eaten in moderate quantities (ie within your daily caloric goals and assuming you have no issues / allergies with wheat) they're fine.
At the risk of getting a little OT the story of why the Kellog brothers developed cereals in the first place is quite interesting.0 -
Garbage, but then again that's my opinion. I'd much rather make some eggs and bacon than eat a bowl of some boring *kitten* corn flakes.0

In my opinion, they are not healthy at all and I think, like many corporations, they have a lot of power and offer lots of misinformation to the public. I don't think any processed grain products with added sugar are healthy.
However, if you can eat them and feel fine doing so, then all the power to you. I can't. You can lose weight no matter what you eat, according to most MFP members. Unfortunately for me, I cannot keep from craving and binging if I eat things like Kelloggs cereals.0 -
Probably not the best, but in the evening when I crave something sweet, Special K blueberry with Equal and 1% milk does the trick.0

Lots of added sugar in most of them. If you think that's a problem then they aren't healthy.
Most of the other stuff is starch too, so they're a carbfest.0 -
They're definitely not "health food." However, they aren't necessarily bad for you as long as you can stick within your caloric goals. In my personal experience though, I find that processed carbs like kellogs cereals tend to lead me to over eat.0

There is a reason they add so many vitamins and minerals to cold cereals.0

all cereals are not healthy but if you simply want to lose weight, it has nothing to do with that. losing weight is about a calorie deficit, not nutrition.0

What's unhealthy about Weetabix or something like Kashi 7?0 -

Random amusing thought for the day: Corn Flakes has a higher glycemic index than Co-co Puffs.
Concentrated corn isn't good for anyone. Stop eating the garbage in general, and you'll likely feel better. There's a reason that Ghengis Khan's meat eating brethren were able to roflstomp and then impregnate the entire grain eating population of Asia centuries ago.0 -
I don't think Kellogg's are any better or worse than other cereals in general, they are high carb, high sugar, little protein, and quite hi calorie for a small meal that doesn't keep you feeling full.0

What's your point? Watermelon has a higher GI than a Snickers bar or ice cream0 -

It was more an addendum than a point in and of itself. Hence, the 'random amusing thought'. One would think that the latter would be higher than the former, due to it's ridiculously high sugar content. The real point of my post was actually the second part.0 -
oatmeal is tons better0

I would avoid all cereal bars as they are high in sugar, use refined and processed wheat flour.
The only decent supermarket brought bar is a brand I've found called 9Bar, it's a little high in sugar, but much better in terms of overall ingredients (it's just nuts/seeds and honey/sugar). The healthiest flavours are Pumpkin and Peanut - just my opinion. If you can't find these, then second I would go for Eat Natural peanuts, almonds and hazelnuts bar.0
