Best Post Workout Snack?

I'm looking to change things up with my post workout snacks....

On days that I workout really hard I struggle to eat for the rest of the day (I'm not hungry), so I'm wondering what people eat when they return from their workouts...

Any ideas/help is apprecaited :)

I don't plan pre or post workout snacks. I eat my regular meals and that's it.

Same here. Just real food at my next meal seems good enough for me.

In theory you should have complex carbs (whole wheat etc) and protein like hard boiled eggs or some cheese etc.

    I prefer luna bars.

I have heard good things about chocolate milk post-workout too but I can't drink milk so it isn't for me!

To build muscle I have heard you should have some protein within 30 minutes of a workout. I usually have a protein shake made with coconut/almond milk, protein powder.

I have protein powder (chocolate flavor) in water after I lift weights. And usually I workout (lift or run) right before breakfast or dinner, so I get the rest of my refueling there.

Do you like dessert? I usually eat dessert (frozen greek yogurt) on the days I burn a lot of calories. That's a fun way to spend your extra calories assuming you like to eat them back.

Immediately after my workout I drink a protein shake made with Whey and Casein protein and I have a handful of Gummy bears. After a good hard workout is a perfect time to get some simple carbs. If you have a sweet tooth, post workout is a perfect time to feed it.

I drink chocolate milk following my workouts. It's a REALLY good recovery drink.

This article on WebMD backs up the fact that Chocolate Milk is a great recovery drink: http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-and-supplements/lifestyle-guide-11/protein-powder

I don't usually want to eat right after a workout, but I LOVE my chocolate milk. I think it actually tastes better after a tough workout.

Same here, unless I am having dessert that night. In that case, dessert is my "snack."
