Calorie values for chicken.

I was reviewing some of recipies and something puzzled me. I cook with both chicken legs back attach and frozen chick breasts. According to the nutritional values on the box of my chicken breasts the calorie value is calories per 100g (or 680 for the entire recipe). Chicken legs, I just chose a value from the database and the calorie value was almost 3 times for the approximately the same weight in legs. Are chicken legs that much higher in calories then breasts?

Chicken legs are dark meat. Therefore more fat. Fat = 9 kcals per gram. *kitten* adds up man.

Were the legs skin on or skin off. If skin on then yes maybe they would be that much more. Chicken breasts are normally skin off and much leaner.

This website is a great tool:

    http://www.fatsecret.com/calories-nutrition/usda/turkey-breast-meat?portionid=43128&portionamount=1.000

I question some of the values (like the sodium in turkey, for example) but I think for the most part it is fairly accurate. Top right, you can search what it is you're looking for to compare.

Dark meat tends to be higher fat than white meat... and also if the legs had skin (as if for frying) than that would be more calories and more fat, compared to a skinless breasts, but I don't know if it would be 3 times higher.

My boneless skinless thighs end up slightly higher than boneless skinless breast because of a little extra fat, but it's not an extreme difference.

Thanks for your feedback, I had removed the skin. I will check the website.
I have questioned the calorie value of round steak that I find here, but had nothing to compare too.

I usually double check with this site:

    It seems fairly accurate usually.
