Ok so last year my friend and I decided to randomly enter a 5k pick your time race. We both ran it together in 34 minutes and after that day I felt great. This was a big accomplishment for me because I stopped running 4 years ago because my asthma was too irritating. But she had a baby and was working on losing the baby fat so I wanted to be there to support her (she also had/has asthma). My new goal is to be able to run the 1/2 marathon on father's day as part of the manitoba marathon in Winnipeg Manitoba. I am currently only up to 2.5 miles in 1/2 an hour. Does anyone have any suggestions for training, like by how much i should be increasing my mileage in a week. What kind of diet should have. I'm currently at 1200 calories before exercise. Anyone that can help with advice or facts or anything would be great! :) thanks btw I LOVE MFP my boyfriend thinks i'm a dork but i think it's better than being addicted to facebook or any of the apps on there like he is haha

Go to runnersworld.com, LOTS of great info on there! Also they have books that you can buy for beginning runners, good luck! If you ever have any questions I'm happy to help, I LOVE running

Another site to check out is Active.com, which has some good articles about training.
