calories burned goal

so on here it says i should burn an additional 1150 calories.... but as i read some other goals that are way higher i feel that this weekly goal that mfp set is rather low....should i up this goal? and what would be a good goal if i up it??

You want to set your goals based on your current ability.
You don't want a goal that's too easy, of course, because you won't progress as fast as you could.
But you also don't want a goal that's way more than you're currently doing, because you're like to burn our or worse, injure yourself.
What's your current schedule?
I also find, for me - this doesn't work well for everyone I'm sure - that I do much, much better if I set goals based on my performance, not on calories burned. For example, I pick a race and train for it, or set a strength training goal (certain number of pounds for a lift, etc.). I end up working harder for those goals than the "burn 500 on the machine today" goals, which make exercise seem like a chore in my mind. It's also, I don't know what to call it... less depressing? more empowering? to me when I focus on what I can do.
But for some I'm sure the calorie goal is motivating and works out fine. I'd maybe say, start with whatever you're doing now, and add 100 per week to your goal.0 -
well that def makes sense....my schedule makes it so i can really only work out at night, which is fine because the gym is way less busy...i do enjoy having a goal, cuz i feel accomplished when im able to reach it or even push myself further!! thanks for ur input
ill def keep in mind to maybe start adding to the goal within a week or two
