Just thought I'd share this insanity..

To quote what someone else has stated. "To expect less of a black child because they're "black" is the craizest thing I've ever heard. Intstitutional racism at its finest."

i'd like to add not just a black child but any child for that matter.

    Oh the irony...lol
I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'd like to say that everyone should be held to the same standard, but that's what they were doing and it wasn't working. By the numbers provided in the link above alone, "black" students were not thriving ( neither were "hispanics", and "whites" ). They lowered their bar, and maybe it will be beneficial to them ( every group ). Once they meet that goal, perhaps they can continue to raise their standards to something more equal.

Interesting to know that the state is responding to Federal requirements that are based on race and ethnicity breakdowns. It's not enough for Florida schools to improve 50% of the gap in education for their students as a whole. They have to improve 50% of each racial and ethnic group, also poor income groups.

I think we should take government, certainly Federal government out of the business of education all together. This sounds like a stupid piece of state legislation, but how else can they meet the Federal requirement of increasing each group's gap if they do not focus on each group individually?
