How does Myfitnesspal calculate the calorie costs of doing karate and other types of exercise like that? It seems rather high to me.
Thanks

Yeah, I think it's pretty high - only accurate if it was a hardcore training session. I've guesstimated my karate burns based on the burns of other exercises.0

Yep it seems dose seem high, for an average Martial Art's class, perhaps good for real lung busting sessions. I always even it out by comparing it to other similar activity, but Martial art's are total body and often intense, well my clubs certainly are so a high calorie burn is certainly possible and often the case.0

I don't really have anything to compare it to that is a helpful marker. After a 90minute karate lesson (a warm up, basic movement practice, kata, 5 minutes of full kumite, a 10-15 minute break for water) I am drenched in sweat. The only thing I can compare it to is wrestling practice from high school, in terms of a full body work out. Yesterday was the first day i did karate since starting MFP, so I was wondering how other people logged this type of activity.0
