I just wanted to share with you all what I did because I am so very delighted about it!!
I beleive that I have some issues with food, like emotionally- I think that is the main reason anyone can get to over 400lbs by age 20 like I did. I have lost 30lbs so far which has been hard work but I don't think I can lose significant weight or keep it off without getting help about that.
Also I have been struggling a bit emotionally generally like managing my mood and things. I can't explain it well but I have always had real high and real crashing lows and when I am low it is hard to cope with anything like work or managing my home etc. I think that sometimes this makes me a bad person to be around and i hate that bout me!!
I noitced a sign for a local metal health support service, very near to me, and I called them up. They told me they have fortnightly welcome groups and one was today!! So I thought I might as well go, but I am very amazed that I actually went through with it!! There was 3 other people attend and they just told us what goes on their- counselling, support groups for various things, drop in, short courses. Some of the groups/courses are very interesting, things I was thinking about like groups for LGBT, groups for black/minority ethnic etc.... and most important groups about eating distress and things!!
I am going soon for a 1 to 1 chat about to discuss how they can support me and things, which hopefully will be useful.
I am so happy about this!! xxxxxx

Congrats and good luck! Just remember that you aren't the only person here who's weight issues are related to mental health, so you should never feel alone.0

That's awesome. I'm glad you found somewhere that should be able to help! It's a big step to ASK for a seek out help - many don't even take that leap.
Good luck! You're never alone.0 -
Yes, congratulations! That is a big step. I struggle with some mood issues too and it does affect my eating habits. I have not had even a percentage of the trouble that you have experienced but I can empathize. I hope this is a big step in the right direction for you.0

That is wonderful, and I hope they can offer you some support. It is so hard to change habits, but you are doing it, and you should feel fantastic about that. The highs and lows are definitely hard to deal with, and the more tools you have in your coping arsenal the better. I'm 42 and I'm still learning. Remember to be patient with yourself...it's a hard road, but also super rewarding!!!
Hugs.

Congratulations! There should be no stigma in seeking help for mental health, so I'm proud of you for doing it. I've been in a support group for abused male spouses for the past eight months, and while some people don't understand it, it has helped me make progress that I needed to make.
I hope your journey is just as fruitful and valuable!0 -
Please stay motivated. You're doing great! You will succeed! Be blessed!0

thats wonderful! you are so smart to deal with this while you are young. its tough but very emotionally mature to get it now.
you may also want to check out the book "the mood cure" from the library..
its tough to lose weight & tough to check into what you're checking, but stick with your support groups in both areas. so many
people are wanting you to succeed!0 -
Fan-flipping-tastic! So proud of you honey XXX0
