Hey MFPers, I have a weight training/calorie question. I know as far as lifting 15-20 reps is key to burn fat and then cardio. I plan on lifting full body 3x/week (I have a good routine) and then cardio (HIIT) on non lifting days. At my gym you get 2 free training sessions in your first month and then 1 free each month after. The trainer I have is AWESOME but of course trying to sell me more sessions which I just can't afford right now.

The trainer has me at about a 600-700 calorie deficit right now (and I know how much I burn cause I have a heart rate monitor). I have a lot of FAT to lose and I haven't been hungry so I'm okay with this for the time being. I don't want to just be thin though, I want to be lean. On the days that I lift should I or stay w/ the deficit? I don't want to just do cardio cause I wont get the results I am looking for.

Eventually you would need to switch your lifting to lower reps to bulid some muscle mass. That's the only way to really get lean.

And don't worry, you will not bulk up like a guy. It's physically impossible for a woman to do so without chemical help.

Oh I'm not worried about bulking up. I will eventually do the heavier weight but for right now I would like to keep my lean muscle that I currently have and shed some fat and then when I have less fat I will up the weights.

    Incorrect.

If you are eating the correct amount then you can eat the same every day.

This. You don't have to do lower weights/higher reps to "burn fat". Just start lifting heavy now and focus on compound lifts.
