First day of the 30DS

Loved it, but did anyone else feel guilty whenever Jillian Michaels told them off?

On a serious note though, does anyone have any suggestions/alternative to the weights and some of the exercises where the back is under slight more pressure? I'm currently undergoing investigation of my back due to bad pain/pain in the legs and joints etc and so doing this workout almost killed me at some points, but every time I tried to make it a little bit gentler on myself all I could hear was "That's not allowed!"

Sounds like you could hurt yourself more than you are going to get out of the 30ds workout. I would consider waiting to do this workout until you have a good bill of health. There are a lot of yoga, pilates, etc videos that would probably be better for joints, and a bad back.

Don't want to be negative but I would hate to see you get injured even more!

If you have to substitute, do it. I don't have any specific suggestions since my issue was knees but as long as you're doing something (even something unrelated) you'll get benefit. In my experience, people looking to do 30 DS aren't at the point where they need to target specific muscles yet so really just try to keep moving and keep your heart rate up.

ETA: That sounded a lot more harsh/serious than I intended. I did about 25 days of the shred and substituted a lot but still got a lot out of it. I was mostly doing it for a calorie burn and any toning or firming up was kind of a bonus. Now I've slimmed down so my focus is toning and I'm doing specific exercises. So if you're just looking for a calorie burn just keep moving and listen to your body if it feels like too much :)

I already do yoga regularly to ensure I keep myself nice and stretched out so i'm not too massively worried, though I understand your concern! I made sure not to overdo it and took it very slow and didn't force myself to do anything that was too uncomfortable as my Physio suggested. I'm just trying to find alternatives so I can lessen the risk of injury!

Not harsh/serious at all! It's good to know it can be substituted, think i'll just turn her voice off and pop a playlist on while doing the video tomorrow!

I am doing it primarily for weight loss as despite not being overly heavy my physio has suggested exercise and weight loss will probably help significantly :)

She doesn't hurt my feelings. I mute her, she's way too annoying!!! She does piss me off, but because she doesn't workout with us. I end up cussing at her the entire time.

Becareful with your back!!! That is something you don't want to play with.
