Does it seem odd to anyone else when a vegetarian makes the "everything in moderation" argument?

I could see it if the person was a vegetarian for non health reasons, i.e., they don't believe meat is unhealthy, they just don't eat it for religious/moral reasons.

:D It would be much more amusing coming from a militant vegan.

Not really, there are a lot of bad foods that are unhealthy and vegan friendly.
Fries, and temura fried veggies of all sorts, chocolates, candies, cakes, potatoes, sugars.. Cotton Candy..

The word vegan doesn't equal healthy. It simply means there are no animal byproducts in it. Add eggs and dairy? Even worse. Fish? Several hundreds of calories in there if you like fried catfish. Oh yum

Now a militant vegan that puts themself on a mile High pedestal, that is funny.

    No. It makes sense,
Unless I want to be a smartass about it. Obviously they don't eat meat, so you know what they're talking about.

When I say that I don't eat certain foods, people on the MFP forums consistently tell me that I should still eat them in moderation; that I should not "deprive" myself of anything. Some even say that it is unhealthy claiming that it will lead to a deficiency (regardless of the pathetic nutrient profile of the omitted food).

Using this logic, perhaps vegetarians should still eat meat...but only if it's in moderation.
