spinal fusion on l3, l4

Just wondering if anyone else has had spinal fusion, and what your thoughts are on it? I have surgery scheduled for the 30th and I am a nervous wreck. I guess I made my first mistake by reading stuff on the internet. I just want to be sure its worth it. I have horrible pain down my left leg, I cant stand but for a few minutes before Im in a lot of pain. I cant stand up straight at all, I walk with a limp. I look like an old lady. I've tried everything else the doctors wanted me too. Any thoughts
